We met with an amazing gentleman last week. Ratilal Chandaria has spent two decades working on Gujarati language. He has created an online dictionary containing more than 1.7 million words. GujaratiLexicon.com has English to Gujarati, Gujarati to English, Gujarati to Gujarati, Opposite words, Idioms and Thesaurus.

Ratibhai himself is full of energy and passion. We really salute the work he and his team have done.

Yes, I have used the Moradia’s dictionary. But GujaratiLexicon is much superior - many times more words, thesauras, online version, based on unicode, available for Windows and Mac too, and free!

We are thinking of charging a price for the CD version now, but the online version will remain free.

Gujarati lexicon is far superior to anything that is available on line.I heartily recommend it to any one who loves Gujarati.

There are unbearable blunders in Gujarati words. There are 45% words in Gujarati written wrongly in Chnadaria’s lexicon dictionary.This dictionary will ruin the purity of Gujarati spelling system. It is complex and intolerable to stand such a dictionary merely boasting of number of words which are actually repeated hundreds of times. Sheer trash of facts and ridiculous claims.

You can certainly use the GujaratiLexicon online service for checking spellings. You can also download the software from the GujaratiLexicon site, and donate money to support the cause.

We are therefore conscious that either typos or human errors are bound to be there. We have gone through our data twice and are going though them once again and will be correcting them with the help of concerned people like you, who care about Gujarati language. Are Usha and Nisha exactly the opposites of each other?

Abhishek: Usha and Nisha are not exactly opposite. Usha means dawn, while Nisha means night.

I’m using the Software ‘Gujarati lexicon’ for 2 years.
It’s helping me a lot, but I just wanna say that it should be more like the online version of Gujarati Lexicon, which is awesome.

Hey, is there any mobile version of it?. I guess not, but it will be wonderful I think.

For everyone: We are working with Gujarat Vidyapeeth to make the Saarth dictionary available in digital format. The work is almost complete. Saarth is one of the best Gujarati dictionaries and will help a lot of people.

All those looking for English - Gujarati dictionary, can go to http://www.gujaratilexicon.com and try it there.

As for Gujarati learning software or specific dictionaries (like for medical), I am not aware of any good solutions. If you find out something, please post it here!
