You think fuel prices are exorbitant? Think again!

I got this as an email forward today, and couldn’t resist but post it here! Enjoy!

We thought fuel has become really expensive after the recent price hike. But then we compared it with other common liquids and did some quick calculations, and I felt a little better!!!!!!!.

To know why, see the results below – you’ll be surprised at how outrageous some other prices are!!

  • Diesel (regular): Rs.44.08 per litre
  • Petrol (speed): Rs.57.68 per litre
  • Coca Cola 330 ml can : Rs.20 = Rs.61 per litre
  • Dettol antiseptic 100 ml Rs.20 = Rs.200 per litre
  • Radiator coolant 500 ml Rs.160 = Rs.320 per litre
  • Pantene conditioner 400 ml Rs.165 = Rs.413 per litre
  • Medicinal Mouthwash like Listerine 100 ml Rs.45 = Rs. 450 per litre
  • Red Bull 150 ml can : Rs.75 = Rs.500 per litre
  • Corex cough syrup 100 ml Rs.57 = Rs. 570 per litre
  • Evian water 500 ml Rs. 330 = Rs. 660 per litre (Rs. 660 for a litre of WATER!! And the buyers don’t even know the source (Evian spelled backwards is Naive…)
  • Kores whiteout 15 ml Rs. 15 = Rs. 1000 per litre
  • Cup of coffee at any decent business hotel 100 ml Rs. 50 = Rs. 500 per litre
  • Old Spice after shave lotion 100 ml Rs. 175 = Rs. 1750 per litre
  • Pure almond oil 25 ml Rs. 68 = Rs. 2720 per litre

And this is the REAL KICKER…

HP DeskJet colour ink cartridge 21 ml Rs.1900 = Rs. 90476 per litre!!!

Now you know why computer printers are so cheap? So they have you hooked for the ink!

So, the next time you’re at the pump, don’t curse anyone – just be glad your car doesn’t run on cough syrup, after shave, coffee, or God forbid, printer ink!

  1. This is wrong comparison! We are not using these things as this comparison shows..

No one will drink 1l coffee in Barista/CCD 😉 Same like medicine are made for small usage etc.

And, yes, Coca-cola can be use and pesticide, that will be cheaper use 😛

  2. A better comparison is of cost of per capita consumption of these fluids – we may require 50 L of diesel and just 2 ml of ink in a week!

  3. Good points folks! I don’t use any of the products mentioned myself – not even petrol! So I think that makes me happier compared to the rest 😉

  4. I’m paying £1.30+ (112 INR) for a litre of diesel now. Hideous stuff.

Has the price of a rickshaw ride gone up? Fuel must be a big chunk of their costs.

  5. I think ppl. in India should start looking at alternative fuels like CNG and hybrid cars. I’ve been running my car on CNG for the past 3 years and it’s been a smooth ride till now.. No probs with the car or the engine, as propagated by some stupid fools who dont even know wat cng stands for !

By the way, CNG costs Rs.18.90 per KG here in Delhi ! A big car like Optra can run about 10 Km’s per Kg easily.. and thats a conservative mileage i’m giving !!

That day is not far when people will start mixing petrol with water to save on costs..hehe… I heard in one country they’ve started using cooking oil as fuel, even though their cars through up loads of black exhaust when they run !!
