in Ideas Worth Sharing

The Mind Gym

The Mind Gym – Wake your mind up from Time Warner Books is full with practical tips on creativity, stress management, planning and working with people. What got me interested was the cover design. Then I read a page – explaining how a credit card company would sell their card to you – and I was impressed. Ashok bought the book recently and I took a quick look at it to find out what was it all about.

Surprisingly, I finished flipping the pages of the book and reading whatever interested me in about two hours. That too during the train journey of Mumbai city! I was equally surprised to find no author / editor names on the book. This is actually the first book I have seen which does not mention author names.

I really liked the way the book is organized. The layout is very good, the content is generally interesting. In my short review, I did not find many spectacular concepts, but the book actually puts together a neat collection of very important ideas together. The language is lucid, examples are witty and the exercises are worth doing.

Beware; this is not the book about improving your mental abilities. It’s about managing yourself and the situations around.

My verdict: Worth a read. Better when you actually stick to and try out the ideas described!
