Teachers’ Day

5th September is celebrated as Teachers’ Day. I have fond memories of the day and express my gratitude to all my teachers!

While I was in school, the students would act as teachers on this day. The entire school staff – principal, teachers, clerks and even the peons – students would take up the responsibility of these roles. Some students would volunteer and be selected to take on the responsibility. I was always one of them! I remember dressing up as a teacher, preparing for the lecture, delivering the lecture and even punishing the trouble making students. Then in the recess us teachers would gather up in the teachers’ room, share the experiences and fully enjoy the day. I remember being the Principal once – I took rounds of all the classes and coordinated the meetings! The class completion bells sounded totally different that day 🙂

What I am today, I owe it largely to my teachers – school, college and people who taught me important lessons in life. Books and friends became teachers after finishing the formal education. Parents teach in a subtle way. And life – the biggest teacher of them all!

Happy Teachers’ Day!
