The day two was more exciting than one! Rasums’s talk on Large Scale PHP was superb. Got to learn a lot from it! In his first talk of the day, he talked about PHP5 and Web2.0. He could not show a lot of examples as the net connection was down, but it was still cool to find out new things that Yahoo! is building. Oh, one of the most surprising thing for me was to learn that the new Yahoo! Maps is built in Flex!
My talks went well! The first one about Building RIA’s with OpenLaszlo and PHP was well received. I showcased Glancer and built a small QuoteBlox application using Laszlo. People liked the talk. I think it was a new experience for them to see something of a “RIA Genre”! And also to learn how easy it was to build one! Slides are here.
The second talk about Glancer was more engaging! I talked about how Glancer came up and the difficulties we faced in getting where we are today. People liked the human touch of the talk and a lot of them were actually interested in contributing. Slides of the presentation are here. BTW, Tarique surprised me by saying that next year he would give charge of the Foss.In site to me! I am not sure, I am ready for it yet! Tarique is the best guy for this!
So we have a BoF on Glancer today afternoon! I think it’s going to be exciting.
