December 24th, 2007 — Meanings & Explorations
Some people can use the Divide and Rule strategy so well! You wouldn’t even realize they are doing that! When you and a friend (or colleague or partner) are very close, and someone has a problem with your friend, and they come to you and complain about it. Beware! Get the reality first! Are they trying to divide and rule? Or are they genuinely interested in contributing to your friend through you?
It’s good to experience the strategy being applied on you! Just gives you a whole new perspective on people!

A quote Dave mentioned while I was talking to him today:
Millions have hacked at the leaves of evil, but few have hacked at the roots.
Are we going to the source of the problem, or just hacking the outcomes?

I read a manifesto on ChangeThis - Drawings that will change your life. The author, Ralph Perrine, says that drawing are indispensable to good planning and good collaboration—the top two critical skills for success in life. In the manifesto, he shares four drawings to help bring focus and clarity to teams and any personal planning.
- Balancing Your Life
- 360 Degree Awareness
- Critical Path
- The Bright Core
Ralph also has a other 8 drawings - the complete 12 drawing set is available as a calendar from his CafePress shop.
I liked these drawings and I think they are simple ways to get you on track and aligned with your goals. Very valuable!

Did you hear about Chumby? The new cute name on the web, that can display your flickr photos, eBay auctions, play iPod, ring an alarm and still work if it falls of your night stand? No? Then go read what Sujeet has to say about Chumby! He talks about Ambient Orb and Chumby, and how Chumby can be a great Christmas Gift (yeah, that had to come right?)
And by the way:
- Chumby is based on Linux. And a most of it is open source - including the hardware!
- A lot of the frontend is in Flash.
- You can develop widgets for it!
- It costs about $180
Ok, and if you can’t wait to see it, here’s a Chumby!

Thanks to Sujeet for the wonderful catch!

There’s the First Law of Kipple… ‘Kipple drives out nonkipple.’
…Kipple is useless objects, like junk mail or match folders after you use the last match or gum wrappers or yesterday’s homeopape. When nobody’s around, kipple reproduces itself. For instance, if you to go bed leaving any kipple around your apartment, when you wake up there is twice as much of it. It always gets more and more.
No one can win against kipple, except temporarily and maybe in one spot.
Philip K. Dick gave that principle in 1968, and it is so true! Read the post on 43f and could related to it very much!
Too many emails? Too many RSS feeds? It’s all kipple my friend!
