How do you organize your ideas using a computer?

Or something else? I have been using mind maps (using Freemind) and outlines (using OmniOutliner). They are super easy and quick.

What do you use?

  1. I don’t organize my ideas using a computer at all, I find a decent paper notebook is much better for that.

I want to be able to capture ideas quickly and then figure out how they relate to each other. I found mind mapping software too restrictive — you have to decide the relationship before you capture the idea itself.

  2. Text files for use cases, design alternatives, object modeling, etc. UI mockups (using FLEX’s Designer layout tool)

  3. I must admit I use paper a lot! I have an A4 sized sketch pad that I use to scribble ideas, plans and structures.

We use Balsamiq Mockups for UI mocks. It’s sweet and fast!
