i have an issue like this
my ipod connects to the itunes very slowly, and when it does it says that the syncing is complete, and ready to disconnect
when i do there is absolutely Nothing on the ipod, but it sais that half the space has been used up
i cant find any files on it when i open the ipod up on the computer or the ipod
and ive tried so much to fix it but its not working
if anyone has a solution please get back to me

Hi Scott,

I stopped using iPod for calendar / notes sync. I don’t even use the contacts on it, but am keeping them there just in case I need them sometime..

Apple should really fix this soon!

But guess the dev teams are busy working on iPhone 2 for now!

This fix doesn’t completely work for me. Resetting the nano does fix the calendar and contacts, but my notes will then disappear from view. When connected to my computer the notes on the nano are visible via the finder.

Oh well! This is a bug! The thread on Apple's discussion forum has this post:

This is a known issue with the current iPod nano firmware. Nothing is going to 'solve' it but an update from Apple. However, it's not nearly as serious as it seems. After you sync your Calendars and Contact (and Notes, they are affected by this issue, too), they often will not appear, but a simple reset will always 'refresh the iPod's memory'. (And you do that by turning the hold switch on and then off, and then holding down the center button and menu button simultaneously for about 10 seconds until the iPod reboots.) This is not actually an issue with Contacts or Calendars failing to sync. It's an issue with the iPod failing to recognize that they've been synced. A simple reset always solves it in my case and many others.

And yes, it solved it for me too! After going through a full restore of the iPod, I was able to get the calendar to appear on the Nano. But as soon as I sync'd some music and other files, the calendars disappeared again. Resetting the iPod after disconnecting it from the computer solves the problem. Hope Apple comes up with an upgrade to this! Thanks to Man Who Knows the Mac for the answer! And while we are on the topic, here's Apple's 5R's that will almost always solve your iPod Nano problems!
