Making a Dedicated Hiring Project work

Rahul Rungta posted a nice summary of making outsourced dedicated hire projects work. He talks about the care you should take in planning the project, sharing the project vision, understanding the language and cultural differences and treating the offshore team as your employees.

Google will help 1000s build the gPhone!

Just saw this:

Google took its long-awaited plunge into the wireless world today, announcing that it is leading a broad industry alliance to transform mobile phones into powerful mobile computers that could accelerate the convergence of computing and communications.

Essentially:

  • Google will not do hardware
  • It will rather do the software that runs the phones
  • The software is based on Linux and Java
  • And is open source

This looks pretty interesting! Though I am interested in seeing what this software looks like!

It’s hard vs. It’s new!

In a meeting today morning we were discussing about how we have notions and judgments about everything. And how that makes it difficult to talk to someone or do something.

E.g. many people have a notion that they can not speak in public. This opinion, becomes the truth for them, and they never speak in public. In reality, it’s just an opinion!

I was thinking about this and realized there are so many things in my life that I think are hard to achieve. That will take a lot of efforts. But then something else happened!

What if I replace “hard” with “new” in my thinking. Instead of thinking this is hard, how about thinking that this is new?

And that caused a major shift! Made me feel much lighter and gave me a lot more power to deal with the situations!

What would happen to you, if you replace “hard” with “new”?

Self Leadership session

I am truly inspired by the self leadership session I take for new Magneteers! I have been taking it for over a year for all new joinees, and all participants have created tremendous results out of the session.

I am moved by the results a 90 minute session can produce on people’s lives. I wrote first about it on 5th August 2006, and all subsequent sessions have given similar results.

Some of the feedback we received from the last session yesterday:

  • Real life examples of my life has inspired me to link session with my life
  • Learnt way to get things done
  • Inspiring and motivating
  • Importance of knowing own responsibilities and to complete with full justice.
  • Would have missed so much in life if would have missed this session.

To all who participated in these sessions so far, thanks a lot for your generosity and openness. And thank you for giving me the opportunity to share these principles with you!
