Windows XP Administrator account

with 2 comments

This was quite annoying! We setup most of our laptops with Utkarsh Windows software for the seminar we had on Saturday. Kartik added an account called “utkarsh” on the machines. When people booted their machines this morning, they had lost their “Administrator” accounts! I mean the folder existed in “Documents And Settings”, but couldn’t understand how to login. We thought Kartik messed up the accounts and we lost the admin account ;-)

Tried adding a new account by Administrator name but the smart operating system refused it.

So had to Google for it! And then found that Windows XP is a little oversmart with the welcome screen. It does not show the Administrator account on the Welcome screen if there are more than one users with admin access.

The solution is easy though. Requires a registry tweak if you want to show the Administrator account on the welcome screen.

PS: Guess, this is my first Windows post ;-)

Utkarsh Training workshop

with 2 comments

We organized a training workshop for Utkarsh today. It was a major success. The intention of the seminar was to teach people computers using Gujarati language, and Utkarsh as the software medium.

The team did a great job. All participants were thrilled, and felt they learnt a lot about computers. They actually wanted us to conduct more such sessions – even paid ones.

We are still to evaluate the feedback forms. But I am very happy with the event today. I think the team did a great job!

Here are some random pictures!

Laszlo code hinting with Dreamweaver

without comments

If you want to use Dreamweaver to edit your OpenLaszlo files (.lzx), here’s a forum thread that will give you all the tools needed.

The technique involves: adding in a TagLibrary for LZX and then setting .lzx as an HTML extension so that Dreamweaver can open and edit .lzx files. Worked with Mac for me. The procedure mentioned is for Windows.

CNBC TV18 – Young Turks interview

with 11 comments

CNBC TV18 interviewed me today for their Young Turks show. The show is about young entrepreneurs – who will be big tycoons tomorrow ;)

It went very well. We took a few shots in the new office first (it’s still very messy out there, but that’s how offices in the making are!). Then came to the current office. They almost set a whole studio in the main development lab and took the interview there. Asked a few basic questions about the company and future plans. Then took a few more shots in the office. They also took media bites from two clients. Isha (the CNBC reporter) called in the evening and asked if we can take some more shots, so I hope it all went fine :)

But everybody at the office enjoyed! They had good fun making the office neat and tidy (got to look clean on TV, uh!) and overhearing the interview.

We followed ourselves with a round of pictures in the office. Here are some Magneteers who gathered up from nowhere in about 1.5 seconds when I asked 4 of them to gather around for a shot!

Magnet Team

Did I say I love my team? :)

The show is going to be aired on CNBC TV18 next Thursday 27th July 2006 at 7PM. And will be repeated on 30th July at 12.30PM. I will post the video when I get it. Will also post further details after that

Update: Here’s the video!
