Depiction of Software Life

Got a forward from Sandeep! Quite interesting!

This is the Software life …………….

You cry as much as you can, but nobody to hear you.

There are 2 persons always next to you :

1 - The PM (Project Manager), giving a pleasant smile everytime we see him/her.

2 - The TL (Team Leader), busy in scheduling work for us ….. and busy in his/her world

At the centre its we (Software engineers), who struggles with all the Buggs/ PR’s/CR’s/Issues.

The perfect picture is here Team leader - Developer - PM.

What’s inside a PowerBook?

Ever wondered what’s inside a PowerBook? How do you take it apart and put it back together?

MySQL 5.0 is out

MySQL 5.0 is finally out. This is the biggest upgrade ever, and comes with features we have been craving for years! Stored procedures, triggers, views, multiple storage engines, enhanced clustering, management tools … The list goes on. I believe this strongly puts MySQL in level with other enterprise scale databases, and will create major waves.

Download the whitepaper from their site, it’s a comprehensive overview of what’s inside MySQL 5.0.

WE05 Remixed!

John Allsopp has remixed some of the podcosts of WE05 conference. The remix tracks catch highlights - funny, witty, insightful quotes - from some super speakers. I did some remixing earlier for a party in the office and really liked the stuff John created.

For a quickstart: Here’s the upbeat remix
and here’s the deep remix.

The immediate thing that came to mind was to do something similar for Foss.In/2005. With so many who’s-who speakers, it’s really going to be inspirational!

Any takers?

Big issues and petty issues

I was going home the other night. Had office keys in my pocket. It was very quiet in the corridor and building campus. I could clearly hear the noise of cracking keys in my pocket.

Then I came on the road and the hums and honks surrounded me! The noise level was so high, the crackle of my keys couldn’t make it to my ears.

And something lit up in my mind! Small issues hold no significance when you are tackling bigger issues. If you have a big goal for your life, the small worries of day to day life don’t bother you anymore. You can happily move through those troubles, still working towards the big goal you set.

This may be a small thing on the surface, but it was a valuable insight! We crib about small things so much! If only we could focus on the bigger picture, life would be much more peaceful.
